Hrm... we always sang the W.H Monk version in Primary School...
Can't figure out how to make the second verse work... there's a flat in the first line... guess I'm going to have to dig into the .pdfs~ =)
BTW... here's the Monty Python version of the lyrics with the W.H Monk melody~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooaGhYFHIzg
It's amazing -- all I have to do is think "Maybe I should post a request for such-and-such a song," and someone posts it before I get a chance to request it.
Which is to say: Thank you, Rob!
I've spent the past few days trying to figure out the name of this tune so that I could request it. I finally figured out (using Midomi, the online music-identifying service) that it's a hymn called "All Creatures of Our God and King" (not to be confused with "All Things Bright and Beautiful (All Creatures Great and Small)," which is a very different tune); the music for the hymn is apparently a German tune called "Lasst Uns Erfreuen," which has also been used for a couple of other hymns.
Anyway, I came online tonight to request it, and here it was already written up. So thank you again!
It seemed like there was a bit missing, though. So seeing your version inspired me to do the ABC treatment on it -- I found an ABC version at the Open Hymnal Project, removed the multiple voices to trim it down to just the melody, and ended up with this rendition of "Lasst Uns Erfreuen," a.k.a. "All Creatures of Our God and King":

The fingerings are identical to yours (though the key is different), but this version has a repeated two-measure sequence in the middle, and adds about six measures to the end that resolve it nicely.
Great work everyone, it's really interesting to see all the different versions.
(p.s. don't thank me, this one came courtesy of riding_east)
keep up the great work!

Converted into digital "visually mneumonic" shorthand -- only 4 numbers needed - 6 - lower hole closed (see the little loop at the bottom of the six, 9 - upper hole closed (see the little loop at the top of the nine), 8 - both holes closed (see the little loops at top and bottom, 0 - neither upper or lower closed (well, not little loops, at least) - basically, this is exactly like the nifty blue squares with the four circles generated by the Score Generator on his web site - only the numbers can be printed by computer or written by hand...
(the "6890" or Pundiak system)
have fun,
