Song of Storms (ensemble)

I present to the Smule community my submission for the This Contest BLOWS Contest, Song of Storms. Comments are welcome, and also please rate!

Song of Storms has always been my favorite Ocarina tune from The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. My fascination with that game stemmed mostly from the idea of playing a tune and making it rain whenever you want! The Ocarina of Time was my earliest interactive exposure to music and Song of Storms is one of my most favorite bits of music from the game.

I have been wanting to arrange and perform multiple parts for the Smule Ocarina for a long time now, and Song of Storms is certainly deserving of the treatment. Considering I still have the original iPhone model (and recessed headphone jack), I couldn't use my stereo cable, which is why this probably took twice as long as needed. But I think I've finally gotten this video down with an acceptable level of quality (both audio and video).

HOW IT WAS MADE:

I would've recorded video of all the clips, but arranging, learning and performing all the parts took an exorbitant amount of time, and being new to iMovie, I don't think I would've known how to edit all that footage together even if I had!

Everything except the very end of the piece was performed on the ocarina. Considering most of the Zelda music (heck, all Nintendo music at the time) was all made to be repeated, I was more-or-less at a loss for an ending, so quickly ground out some notes on the keyboard to finish it off.

I tried to sync the video and audio as best as I could -- that being said, there was absolutely no cheating! What you see me play on-screen is exactly what was used in GarageBand!
