T-Pain setting doesn't work

I switch the tune setting to 't-pain' and when i start recording it automatically switches back to some lame custom one that doesn't even do anything.

Is there any way to get my $2.99 back?

I got the same problem. When I flick the switch to "T-Pain" and start recording, I only hear my normal voice. No Auto-Tuning.

Whichever setting I put it to, my voice sounds exactly the same. Now I'm wondering how to get my money back?

Have you tried listening to in through the phone speaker or uploading it? Idk its weird but on my 2G I noticed when I listen with my nice set of headphone, everything sounds normal but if I listen to the terrible speaker it sounds good or uploading and listening sounds good.

I have the same issue on my iphone 3G. when talk, all sounds like me talking, no auto-tune either

autotune only works if you sing. Talking isn't going to have an effect. Make sure the 'autotune' button is turned on.

i have tried all the different settings (custom, t-pain, etc.) with and without speakers and headphones and my voice sounds exactly the same. it appears there is no auto-tuning working. i just downloaded this today for my 3gs and deleted it after only 10 minutes of trying to get it to work.

as some other mentioned, it also keeps reverting back to "custom" instead of staying on the t-pain setting. ugh

The 'TPain' setting changes the tuning to TPain's suggestion for the current track. TPain has no suggestion for freestyle, so the switch really doesn't do anything there.

If you can't hear the effect there are a number of possibilities:

1: Autotune is turned off -check the big orange switch near the top of the tuning screen; it should be flipped up and illuminated. Also make sure that the key is not in chromatic (chromatic will reduce magnitude of the TPain effect). If the autotune switch and Key choice don't fix anything, try singing to a song with a background beat (like I'm Sprung) and confirm that it is in the TPain setting.
2: You are not singing -you can't talk into the mic and think that it is going to magically change your voice into singing. High pitches are also more responsive than low voices, so try singing in a high pitch at first until you hear it.
3: You are having trouble hearing it -try saving your recording and listening to it. Can you hear the autotune now? If you can hear it only after recording, that means you are having trouble hearing the autotune output over your real voice. Try using the app with headphones on. Also be aware that your headphones might be broken, try a couple different sets to make sure you have good ones.
4: If all else fails, you may need to admit that there might be something wrong with you. Try giving the app to a friend (or maybe that smart kid in your math class that you like to tease) and ask them to teach you how to use it.

This would be one of the hardware difference between the 2G phones and the newer ones.

you sing into it, high low, different headphones, external speakers turned up loud, t-pain setting, c major, on, off, different songs
and all we can hear is our own voices, no auto-tune at all

Given everything you have tried, and none of it having worked, its a download issue. Deleting tpain completely and then redownloading and installing a new copy will have everything working properly.

Tips provided a few messages up are good. Also, start the app after you have mic/headphones plugged in.

Bottom line is, though, that this app doesn't work very well. Most of the autotune stuff you hear on youtube, tv, is done with pro equipment and Antares Autotune software (NOT this cheap app). People are being misled. And you can bet your britches T-Pain doesn't use this app on his recordings. And he's laughing at you on his way to the bank.

I also get the same problem except it's when I load custom songs from my iPod. The T-Pain setting is supposed to do the auto-tuning work and figure out the key and all that but all I get is my voice without the auto-tune. When I use the songs from the smule store, it works with those though. Strange...any ideas?
