Is there a way to sahre or upload to my computer the tracks I've made with my itunes songs?! It says I can't share it :( I am sure there is a way around it.
Hey ladiaz524, I am having the same problem you are. I choose a track from my iTunes library, and have the same problem getting the message "iTunes music cannot be shared due to licensing restrictions." Funny thing is that the track I am using is a .wav file of instrumentals that I made and produced myself in a studio to sing along with.
What I would like to know is why this would be happening. The track is not only DRM-Free, but is a .wav file. I guess I don't see how what I am trying to do would be any different than if I were to play the exact same track from computer speakers and choose to do a freestyle option.
Can somebody from the Smule community address this? The reason for having licensing restrictions makes sense, but does anyone else see the huge flaw in having it to begin with? Someone tries to share a recording from their iTunes library, and finds that the app will not let them do that. Instead, they just do the freestyle option and play the song through computer speakers and record it that way.
You could tell me to do the same thing, but I didn't spend all of that time making a perfect studio instrumental so that I could produce a mediocre quality replica. The quality of the track would be severely reduced if resorting to this option and I do feel that some kind of alternative is possible. Does anybody else kind of understand what I am saying or at least see the logic I am using?
Hi,
DRM-free does no necessarily mean free from copyright. So, we can't differentiate (yet at least) between original songs and unoriginal. Its a legal issue, so we have to remove any chance of a lawsuit on the company.
You would end up with a higher quality recording by freestyling it, downloading the freestyled recording, and then using editing software to mix the two recordings together anyways.
