Smule, Inc. (“Smule” or “we”) shares the concerns of users of Smule’s applications and websites (“you”) about the protection of your personal information. This is Smule’s policy regarding the privacy of information we collect inside our applications and websites. This privacy policy applies to the smule.com website and all of the internet-accessible web properties and applications owned or operated by Smule. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Smule does not own or control. This policy includes examples of the types of information Smule collects, and the kinds of parties with whom Smule shares such information. These examples are illustrative and should not be considered a complete inventory of Smule’s information collection, use, and sharing practices.

By installing, using, or accessing Smule’s applications or websites, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree to this policy, do not install, use, or access Smule’s applications or websites. Information Smule gathers and how Smule uses it

Smule collects certain information from you in order to provide you with the most interesting and useful applications and websites possible.

iOS or Android platforms

When you use Smule applications, Smule collects your unique device ID, hardware type, the version of your operating system, your activity within our application, and your location (based on opt-in location-based services, which rely upon a device’s GPS coordinates)

Platforms/third-party marketplaces

Third-party libraries included in Smule applications will collect device information and user activity within the application. Third-party platforms and marketplaces through which Smule applications are made available, may collect information about you or receive information from Smule in order to provide or analyze their services. These third-party platforms and marketplaces are neither developed nor administered by Smule and Smule is not responsible for the actions of those third-parties. You should carefully review the terms of service and privacy policies of such third-parties that you use to access Smule applications.

Facebook Connect

If you sign into Smule applications with Facebook Connect, Smule will collect information that is visible via your Facebook account such as: (1) your first and last name, (2) your Facebook ID, (3) your profile picture/URL, and (4) your list of Facebook friends. Your name will be primarily used for user registration and in social features, which may include friend-to-friend interaction, chat, or messaging functionality, public leaderboards, head-to-head competition and other similar features.

In-game dialog boxes

When you register in Smule applications, Smule may ask whether you’d like to provide us with certain pieces of information, which could include your email and username. We will do this through in-game dialog boxes.

Smule uses user information and/or unique device IDs to understand usage of our applications and troubleshoot and improve our applications.

Smule uses contact information to update you on Smule products, provide customer support, and connect you to other users of our applications.

Smule uses your IP address to identify you, to gather demographic information that helps us understand how you and our other customers use our website and applications, and to administer our website.

Smule sometimes conducts or sponsor surveys and contests. If you elect to participate, Smule may ask you for contact, demographic, and other information as part of these offerings. Smule uses this information to analyze and report on the results of surveys, to improve our applications, and to provide you with the results of the surveys and contests. Participation in surveys and contests is completely voluntary.

Information Smule may disclose

Smule does not sell or disclose personal information about you to other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide you with products or services, when we have your permission, or under the certain circumstances as detailed in this privacy policy.

Smule shares demographic, profile and other general information about you and our other customers with our partners on an aggregate basis. This means that we tell our advertisers general information about the characteristics of our customer base, but we do not specifically identify a particular user or visitor or provide the user’s contact information to our advertisers. Smule may share your unique device ID with advertisers or your location (based on opt-in location-based services, which rely upon a device’s GPS coordinates).

Disclosures permitted by law

  • Smule provides information on a confidential basis to nonaffiliated companies Smule engages as contractors or agents to perform services for Smule, such as maintaining software, sending direct mail or administering a contest. Information will be shared with such contractors only to the extent reasonably necessary for them to perform services on Smule’s behalf, and pursuant to confidentiality obligations;
  • Smule may provide information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, from law enforcement agencies or state and federal regulators;
  • If Smule is acquired by or merged with another company, Smule will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Cookies

Smule’s websites use "cookies" which deposit certain record keeping information on your hard drive. Cookies are used to keep track of your preferences, deliver content specific to your interests, and for other similar purposes. These cookies can't read other data from your hard drive or read cookie files created by other sites or applications.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies unless you reconfigure your browser to refuse them or to notify you when you will have received one. If you do not accept cookies, you will not be able to use certain features of Smule’s websites.

Public forums

Forums, message boards, blogs and/or news groups are available to you through Smule’s websites. Please remember that any information disclosed in these areas becomes public information. If you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited responses. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose any of your personal information in a public forum.

Smule’s websites have certain security measures in place in effort to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.

Smule’s websites contain links to other sites. Smule is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites. You may wish to review the privacy policies of those sites.

Smule offers the ability to correct or update online the information collected during registration by contacting support via our online support form.
